ConstellR will commercialise thermal infrared Earth Observation (EO) data essential for solving the challenge of generating a rapid yet sustainable increase in food to feed 10 billion people by 2050 in the face of climate change and water scarcity. ConstellR’s thermal infrared (TIR) microsatellite constellation, HiVE and resulting land surface temperature data will deliver advanced warning of plant stress based on temperature-derived evapotranspiration. Our B2B/B2B2B service will be relevant for AgTech companies developing applications to help farmers increase yield and input efficiency and for AgFood / production companies who need greater transparency across their supply chain for logistics and trading purposes. This helps with increasing our scalability and impact, feeding global thermal intelligence into existing precision farming solutions.
We are making use of existing Copernicus datasets from Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3: Our initial (pre-constellation) product operates on available EO data. All other pilot and demonstrator datasets we generate will also be ingested. To ensure comparability for our orbital systems once launched, data will be referenced against spatially and temporally overlapping Sentinel-3 SLSTR data. All data will be georeferenced based on Sentinel-2 optical data. The cooperation with existing space assets to lower the hardware requirements (in particular for calibration and georeferencing purposes) of the future microsatellite constellation will be a core functional of the overall system.
